By definition, everything in 'art' is unique! But, to 'bagger' a word, it's helpful to explain why my work qualifies as 'particularly' unique.
The photographs on this website illustrate a 'one-dimensional' view of my paintings.
The differentiating element of my technique involves a very heavy application of paints that give my work a three-dimensional quality not apparent in the photos.
Certain of my paints react chemically to one-another, and this, together with the volume of the paint used creates a three-dimensional effect.
After completing a new painting, I have to decide on a name. Usually it comes to me rather quickly. I recently completed two new works and the name for one came immediately: 'GELATO', because the color variations called to mind the many color varieties found in those colorful famous Italian ices.
I was having trouble with a name for the other when I asked my neighbor, a former commandant of the United States Coast Guard, what he saw in the painting and he said: "I see the ocean." And then I saw that too, so it's name is OCEANA, reflecting the sea and it's stormy conditions.
